General Summary:
The part-time Executive Director is responsible for the management of NAMI Spartanburg South Carolina, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for all whose lives are affected by mental illness through programs of education, support, and advocacy. This is a part-time position reporting to the Board of Directors of NAMI Spartanburg.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promote NAMI Spartanburg’s mission, strategic plan, annual goals, and objectives in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
- Recruit, train and provide leadership and supervision of volunteers.
- Ensures the organizational operation and programs of support, education and advocacy are provided in the highest quality of the organization.
- Seek and complete grant application opportunities for NAMI Spartanburg to ensure sustainability of our activities, work in the community and programs.
- Participate in developing and maintaining relationships to fulfill the mission of NAMI Spartanburg with other non-profit, educational, corporate, and other relevant partners.
- Work with the Treasurer of the Board to oversee the organization’s budget, allocate resources strategically and manage spending against budget.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization in public settings, consistent with the mission, policies, and activities of the organization.
- Work with the Board of Directors to expand financial support by identifying and cultivating individuals, foundations, and other sources of revenue to achieve the mission of NAMI Spartanburg.
- Run the day-to-day operations of answering or returning phone messages and emails.
- Maintaining the organization’s social media presence.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop strong relationships and advocacy across a diverse spectrum of stakeholders.
- Excellent public speaking and communications skills with the ability to serve as an external voice for NAMI Spartanburg.
- Experience with management, supervision, and oversight of budgets.
- Ability to direct and motivate staff and volunteers.
- Basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Family member of a person with mental illness and/or personal lived experience.
- Knowledge and experience with NAMI programs preferred.
- Knowledge of the Spartanburg community.
Job Details:
- This is a part-time position of 20 hours a week.
- Salary range based upon education and experience $22,000 to $28,000.
